Harvestworks announces its three-tier Processing ONLINE Intensive for the Fall/Winter Semester. Over a span of 13 weeks, join the tens of thousands who use the open source Processing language to create their own visual arts, and immerse yourself in our Visual Instruments / VJing (Oct-Nov), Computer Vision (Dec) and Generative Art (Jan/Feb) courses. These classes are held online, means that anyone – and in any timezone – can take it and make it work with their schedule. There are no mandatory days to be available, as long as you are able to keep up with the new material each week.

[Oct 21 – Nov 25] Visual Instruments & Code ONLINE course
Visual Instruments is a 5-week online course on how to create your own customized VJ software in Processing. We will craft personal, playable, and interactive graphics to be used for music, theater, dance, and many other performance contexts, as well as construct instruments for their creative playback, curation, and manipulation. Cost: $275 (members + students) $300 (regular)
[Dec 2 – 23] Computer Vision ONLINE Course
This intensive. three-week ONLINE course introduces students to the field of computer vision and its use in art installation and interactivity. Students will learn how to create programs in Processing which track objects, colors, bodies, and faces, and how to use that stream of data to add dynamics to our applications. Cost: $200 (members + students) $225 (regular)
[Jan 6 – Feb 10] Generative Art ONLINE Course
Generative Art is a 5-week ONLINE course in Processing that will introduce students to the subject of generative art, exploring methods for creating artworks using algorithms and autonomous processes inspired from nature, statistics, biology, and computer science. Cost: $275 (members + students) $300 (regular).
Online Training
In collaboration with Tenlegs, a network for artists to connect, collaborate, earn and learn, Harvestworks offers these classes as part of its online TEAMLab class program. Online means that anyone – and in any timezone – can take it and make it work with your schedule. Initially and throughout the course you’ll have access to video lectures created specifically for this workshop, a series of hands-on challenges meant to give you experience building your own artworks, and live sessions to ask questions, get answers, and go deeper with the material.
Class will run between Oct 2013 and Feb 2014. Video lectures will be released once a week, to be watched on the students own time. There are no mandatory days to be available, as long as you are able to keep up with the new material each week.
